What was the piece of choral music played to accompany the last scene in The Sixth Commandment episode 4 please? Marvellous music, especially the bass singers.
Hi Miranda, like you, I thought this piece was wonderful and came on here to find what it was. Then I remembered that on Android phones you can ask Google to listen and identify a piece by saying ‘ Hey Google, what’s that song’. It came up with ‘Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom’ but the screen started to fade and I then lost it in refreshing the screen before getting more detail. However, I tried The Rachmaninov version which is very similar but finally identified it as the Tchaikovsky version, VI, Hymn of the Cherubim.
If you’re not familiar with it, you would enjoy the opening of the Verdi Requiem, which I discovered from the credits of an Endeavour episode.
Episode 1, after the speeches during the party, does anyone know the music playing in the background? I know but can’t name it
Thanks, most grateful if anyone could help me on that
How lovely to have an answer! Thank you for letting me know. Jan.
The vocal music at the beginning of Episode 4 is from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater Dolorosa
Can anyone tell me what the vocal music is at the beginning of Episode 4 – that the barrister seems to be listening to as he enters the court to prepare for the trial.
Many thanks, Jan
What vocal duet is playing in episode four?
It’s the opening movement from Pregolesi’s “Stabat Mater”
hello! we couldn’t identify it at the moment. our search will continue and we’ll update our post once we find it. thank you for your patience!
You fail to mention that the whole series begins and ends with Tchaikovsky’s Hymn of the Cherubim. A stunning piece of music and very integral in setting up the religious themes so central to this tragic story.
Thank you for adding that; the very information I was looking for.
Delighted to be of help Charlotte. It’s one of my most cherished and loved pieces of music and used most poignantly in this heart-breaking story.
So very glad you named this piece of hauntingly beautiful music im not a clsssical music buff but this piece is so moving thank you.
